I told you I wasn’t going to be one of those nutritionists…
In my previous post I had different expectations for tonight. The reality was a bit different…
Our day:
9am: 25 minutes on the treadmill, push-ups, tri-ceps, lunges & abs
10:15am: buffet breakfast: yogurt w/ granola, fruit, ww toast w/ cheese & tomato & mini croissant
11:00am – 2pm: worked on a case study in the hotel lobby (2 coffees)
2pm: small whole wheat turkey sub from Subway
5pm: sauna & shower
8:00pm: complimentary ‘picados’ (cheese, sundried tomatoes, olives & bread) & champagne in the hotel lobby
9:00pm – 11:00pm: BEST DINNER EVER. We decided to try the #1 rated Trip Advisor restaurant in Mendoza: Florentino Bistro, and it didn’t disappoint. This was unexpected as Trip Advisor restaurants are usually way overrated. So unexpected that I didn’t even bring my camera (but I wish I had).
We were seated at the back of the restaurant in a open-air courtyard that was lit by candle-light with soft music playing in the background (a random mix with highlights being Moby – Porcelain & Billie Holiday). I ordered a glass of local Malbec and the Pappardelle with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. I was expecting dry pasta, random tomato sauce and basil flakes. What I got was very different. The food tasted & smelled like it was supposed to. The pasta was fresh, the tomatoes were perfect, the fresh balls of mozzarella were so creamy, and the dish smelled like fresh basil – it was incredible…how fresh, local, in season ingredients are supposed to taste. It made me want to grow my own veggies one day, and re-create that dish.
Previous plan of light dinner and no wine – didn’t happen.
Date night out with my husband, amazing dinner & Malbec in Mendoza: priceless.
Hey Lauren great post, would love to see a veggie garden in Kaz!!!
I will make it happen this summer, and try and re-create that pasta dish!!
