Seeing that it’s New Year’s eve I can’t help but look back on 2012. I remember last year at this time our condo was packed up, and we were about to embark on our South American adventure. I had no idea what to expect. We would be living in countries that I’d never been to before: Colombia, Argentina, Chile…it was exciting.
Thinking back on this can be a bit of a downer. That being said, even though I don’t have a travel adventure ahead of me for 2013; there are exciting things on the horizon:
-My course is finished, no more studying on lunch breaks, after work & on weekends
-I passed my exam, and am finally a Registered Nutritionist!! (I had to take a picture of my official designation card)
-I will start getting paid for what I love to do (I already have my first client!)
-My business website is up & running – it’s a work in progress, but it’s up there: www.laurenfollett.com
-John and I are both going to be first-time aunts & uncles – we each have a sister and they’re both expecting their first babies in February & May!
-We love to travel, and have a list of great places we want to visit in 2013
Even though 2012 was exciting because we were travelling and living in new places it still had it’s challenges (frogs in toilets, missing my family, language barriers, etc.). No matter where you’re living there are exciting times & challenging times, and you don’t have much control over that, but what you can control is your reaction or attitude towards the situation.
I love starting a new year because it’s like a fresh start, and you can set goals or resolutions for what you want to accomplish in 2013.
My goals for 2013 are:
-to get my business up & running, build a strong client base, and help others accomplish their health & wellness goals
-try a new recipe every 2 weeks
-learn to cook with new healthy ingredients (ie. miso, tempeh, chick pea flour, wheatgrass, raw cacao nibs, kelp noodles)
-get outside more even though its grey, dark & cold – my hubby bought me warm winter boots & a coat for Christmas so I’m set!
-travel, travel, travel
-keep calm & carry on – a good mantra for a busy, but exciting year ahead!
Do you have goals for 2013? If so, it’s important to write the down. If they’re just random thoughts in your head than it’s easier to forget about them, or not stick to them. It could be something as simple as including something green at lunch & dinner or working out 3x per week or switching to whole grains. Whatever your goal, write it down so that you’re accountable, and more likely to achieve it. Remember, it takes 21 days to form a habit so stick with it!
Happy New Year!!
